Do you ever feel as though you’re holding on for dear life in the wild ride of educating your gifted or 2e kids? What’s “The Right Way?” Homeschooling? What flavor? Gameschooling, unschooling, worldschooling, box curriculum, Charlotte Mason? If you enroll in classes, does that mean you’re not a “real” homeschooler? Is it a gifted program or school? Is it accelerated learning or grade skipping in a mainstream class? Is it constant dickering in IEP meetings? The truth is that there is no one package-deal Right Way, and the realization of such is as liberating as it is scary! You are the conduit for an education that is bespoke to your individual kids, and doable for your family.
This Conversations, we feature two of our own who are in the throes of their Gifted Home Ed journeys, and are happy to share their experiences with you:
A refresher for those new to our mini-conference platform, GHF Conversations is a half-day of topic-driven programming featuring two expert speakers, each followed by an equal amount of time dedicated to facilitated conversation sessions with and for our thoughtful and engaging community of educators and parents.
Come meet our amazing new team mates, hear their in-the-trenches takes on gifted education from all fronts, and join in the conversation, Saturday, October 21st, 8am PDT, LIVE and FREE in the Forum: https://forum.ghflearners.org/events
Please join us in the open GHF Forum to access this FREE LIVE online event. There is no membership fee to join the open Forum.
After the live event, the presentations will be archived for paid GHF Choices members. Schedule
Session 1: 8-9:30am PT / 11-12:30pm ET
Marna Wohlfeld

GHF Board Director of Publications and Managing Editor or GHF Journey, Marna Walthall Wohlfeld, is drinking from the gifted education firehose, and fortifying herself with the knowledge and flexibility to grab the right tool for the right kid at the right time. That means being tactical when sampling from All The Things: homeschooling, unschooling, enrichment and extracurriculars, brick-and-mortar/traditional school, resisting the risk of overload, knowing when to add more challenge, and also letting the kid’s passions lead the way.
Marna Walthall Wohlfeld is a mom of four. She has deschooled, unschooled, and homeschooled various kids at various stages. Passionate about advocating for twice-exceptional students, she is currently studying in the doctoral program at Bridges Graduate School for Cognitive Diversity in Education. Previously she worked in the non-profit sector.
Session 2: 9:45-11:15am PT / 12:45-2:15pm ET
Ric Mejia

GHF Board Treasurer, Virtual Co-Op Social Group Leader and friendly mod in our FB group, Ricardo Mejia, describes his situation and philosophy succinctly: “As a 2e parent of two 2e kids, married to a 2e partner, I believe we can kindly adjust our expectations to best support our kids on their journey.” Would that we could all be as mellow as Ric!
