How to Nurture Your Gifted/2e Homeschool Learner’s Love of Learning
Gifted and twice-exceptional children naturally exhibit joyful curiosity as they learn about the world around them. Their rapid discoveries keep parents on their toes as soon as our infants become mobile, keeping their environment safe for their constant explorations. Yet, too often, that curiosity wanes as they reach school age and have less time to discover and explore their interests. This disconnect frequently exasperates with age as they become more busy, more focused on academic goals, and more aware of external pressures to achieve. Homeschooling can provide a crucial gift of time for our learners to discover interests, explore passions, and retain this natural love of learning. How, then, do parents provide these opportunities? In this conversation, we will discuss strategies for identifying and exploring our learners’ unique interests; share ideas for building authentic and meaningful project-based learning around these interests; and explore how these interests can be integrated into other learning goals.
Discover ways in which gifted/2e learners’ unique interests can be discovered and nurtured; gather ideas for building authentic and meaningful project based learning around learners’ interests; and learn how these learners’ interests can be integrated into other learning goals.
