Lisa Sticca-Conrod and Brett Kennedy
Figuring out how to prepare for college is complicated enough for the typical, traditional-school student. Throw in things like homeschooling transcripts, changing test requirements, access to AP exams, that year when they had a meltdown and torched their GPA, an IEP or 504, being a 13-year-old senior, being 2e… it’s a touch more onerous! Brett and Lisa discuss these scenarios and more today, including how and when to start planning, and the very important truth that this process is all about FIT – it’s as much about your student’s best environment as it is about admissions.
Brett has over 25 years of experience in college admissions and aid. Most recently, he served in the Dean of Admissions role at Berry College for a decade. Before that, he began his admissions career at the University of Alabama and later held senior admissions positions at DePauw University. Having worked for colleges both large and small, Brett also held positions in both new student orientation and parent and family affairs at the University of Maryland-College Park. At Birmingham-Southern College, he worked in Financial Aid exclusively with new, incoming students. Brett holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Birmingham-Southern College and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from the University of Alabama. He took additional graduate coursework in the history and politics of education at the University of Maryland-College Park. He also holds a Certificate in Independent Educational Consulting from the University of California Irvine.
