Catherine Gruener, M.A., M.A., LCPC, LCMHC, NCC, BC-TMH

Catherine Gruener, author of Parenting Young Gifted Children: What to Expect When you Have the Unexpected is a parent of a 2E teen, step-mother and grandmother, award winning counselor trained in counseling gifted, double graduate degreed in neuropsychology and clinical counseling, board certified in positive discipline with training in Parent Management techniques from the Yale Parent Center, who has worked with hundreds of parents of gifted and 2E children, helping them understand the social and emotional challenges of being gifted, identify strengths, and learn evidence-based parent strategies that work with gifted and 2E children. Her goal is to help families create more connected, more fulfilling, and more loving relationships. Since 2009 Catherine has provided training to parents of gifted children through organizations such as the Illinois Association for Gifted Children (IAGC), Chicago Gifted Community Center (CGCC), Davidson Institute, Science and Arts Academy, Quest Academy, Avery Coonley, and many of the private and public parents organizations in the greater Chicago-land area, advocating for gifted and profoundly gifted children through volunteer committee and board memberships with IAGC and CGCC.
